SEER2 Updates

On January 1st, 2023, federal guidelines pertaining to energy efficiency will go into effect. This improvement to the previous SEER rating system is called SEER2, and it will change how you purchase home HVAC equipment moving forward.

Due to stricter energy efficiency requirements for manufacturers, we’re expecting a price increase in many new models. We want you to have all the information behind what SEER2 means for you as a homeowner so you can prepare for inbound price hikes on new unit installations. This is what you need to know.

Here’s What to Expect From SEER2

There are two major things to keep in mind regarding SEER2 updates.

  • HVAC unit prices will increase starting in 2023.
  • Government regulation will cause new AC units and furnaces to increase by an average of 20% or more if the equipment is manufactured in 2023 and beyond.

To understand exactly what SEER2 does and how it impacts you, you can find official information here.

Here’s What We’re Doing About it

Affordable units manufactured in or sellable in 2022 are nearly gone. If you’re lucky enough to read this before 2023, contact us to find out if there’s still 2022 model inventory available so you can lock in a cheaper installation before it’s too late. We want to put a new system in your hands before the clock runs out on 2022 models.

If you aren’t able to install a new AC unit or furnace, now is the time to call for maintenance on your existing unit and ensure it lasts as long as possible. Your home HVAC equipment may still have a decade of life or more, but that can only be realized with proper maintenance.

Let’s offset the cost of SEER2 price increases for as long as possible and keep that current furnace or air conditioner in prime shape.
