What Are Heat and Energy Recovery Ventilators?
A heat recovery ventilator (HRV system) is basically a heat exchanging device installed directly into your ductwork. It also has a separate duct connecting it to the outside air. As air flows in from the outside, it flows through the heat exchanger at the same time as the inside air.
These two airflows equalize each other’s temperature, meaning that by the time the outside air reaches you, it’s more or less the same temperature as the rest of your house. This enables you to keep receiving the fresh Sacramento, CA air from outside, without giving up any energy from your HVAC system.
An energy recovery ventilator (ERV system) is essentially the same thing as a HRV system, except that it has an additional benefit: it transfers humidity in at the same time.
The Benefits of an ERV or HRV Installation
As we mentioned above, maintaining fresh air throughout your Sacramento, CA home is an important part of improving your comfort—and also your health. Heat recovery ventilators and energy recovery ventilators are a great way to improve HVAC efficiency, home comfort, and the health of you and your family.
You should never have to sacrifice one in order to have another. Depending on your specific living situation, either an ERV or an HRV system could be the perfect way to improve your indoor air quality.
We Provide Comprehensive ERV and HRV Services
The installation of an HRV or ERV system is not a simple task. The systems themselves don’t require power. However, installing either of them in the ductwork requires professional training and expert knowledge. If the system isn’t installed in just the right way, you won’t be able to enjoy its full benefits. The additional duct that connects the system to the outside air will also likely require added construction work, which should always be trusted to a professional.
And if you already have an ERV or HRV system, then you can count on us to handle any repair or maintenance needs that come up, too. Keeping up on routine maintenance allows our professionals to fully inspect and clean your indoor air quality system, while alerting you to any repair needs that seem imminent. We’ve love to share more about these indoor air quality products and others that we offer. Give us a call today!
